Community involvement in the law enforcement process allows citizens and students to ride as passenger observers with patrol officers. The ISU Police ride-along program opens the lines of communication within the campus community and promotes a better understanding of a police officer's challenges, risks, and rewards in the Iowa State community. It's also a great start for individuals interested in a position in the department.

Applications must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the request ride-along to accommodate scheduling and records checks.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age, with no current driver’s license suspensions or revocations, and no outstanding arrest warrants.

Applicants are required to complete the ride-along request form and read, agree, and follow all rules and guidelines prior to participating. Failure to comply with any rules and guidelines will result in the immediate termination of the ride-along.
